Madison Babywearing maintains a growing learning and lending library of carriers, which allows caregivers to try on carriers during our meetings and borrow them for personal use between meetings.
Learning Library
As an educational organization, the primary purpose of our carrier library is to offer a wide variety of styles and sizes of carriers for demonstration and hands-on learning. Because babywearing is not a one-size-fits-all experience, the “perfect carrier” will be different based on the needs of each caregiver and baby. Our library allows caregivers to learn about and try on different styles to find out what works best for them. Explore the wide variety of carriers in our library database.
Lending Library
We also know that baby carriers can be a significant investment, so we love to also offer our community a way to “try before you buy”. Between meetings we allow carriers to be checked out for personal use. Membership offers an affordable way to explore LOTS of different styles of carriers without the investment of buying your own (at least until you know what you love)!
- New members can borrow up to 1 carrier per month at no cost, no deposit. Members in good standing (carriers returned clean and on time) can borrow 2 carriers per month.
- Non-members can borrow carriers for $10/month plus a refundable deposit for the value of the carrier. Non-members can become members at any time, and can put their borrowing fee toward their membership fee within the month of borrowing. Deposits can be paid using cash, check, or a credit card.
All carriers are available first come first served at monthly meetings and must be returned at the beginning of the next month’s meeting. If you are unable to attend the next meeting, you can arrange to drop off the carriers with a Volunteer prior to the meeting. If carriers are not returned prior to the next month’s meeting, a late fee of $15 will be charged. (This helps us ensure that all carriers are available to meeting attendees for use during our meetings.) If the carrier has still not been returned after the following meeting, then the borrower will be invoiced for the full value of the carrier.
