Fall is finally upon us, and that means that International Babywearing Week (IBW) is also here! This special weeks allows us to join together with the international babywearing community to celebrate the joys and benefits of keeping our babies close! The goal of International Babywearing Week is to celebrate, promote, advocate for, and focus media attention on the many benefits of babywearing.
BWI-Madison is one of the many organizations celebrating International Babywearing Week 2017, and we’ve put together online challenges, in-person events, and prizes from our generous sponsors. Check out the details below, and join us to celebrate IBW 2017!
Online Fun at BWI-Madison Facebook Group
Did you know that BWI-Madison has a Facebook Group where you can ask questions, get advice, and share your babywearing journey? During International Babywearing Week, we’re hosting online games, daily discussions, and some of the cutest babywearing pictures you’ll find in Madison (not to mention the chance to win amazing prizes from our very incredible sponsors)! IBW 2017 In-Person Events
To celebrate International Babywearing Week, we’re also hosting 4 in-person events! Join us for any or all of them:
| Babywearing at Henry Vilas Zoo Monday, October 2nd at 9:45 am Henry Vilas Zoo, Giraffe House 702 S Randall Ave, Madison Meet up with Catherine and Leslie as they lead a leisurely walk through the zoo. Meet at 9:45am by the Giraffe House (on the side by the tigers) for “babywearing in the wild”. (Strollers and walking tots are welcome too.) The zoo is free to the public. IBW Coffee Walk Wednesday, October 4th at 9:45 am Cafe Social 102 N Bedford St, Madison Join Coral for a Babywearing Coffee Walk. Meet at Cafe Social at 9:45, grab a coffee, tea, or bakery treat, and then enjoy a stroll with us. There is on street parking in the area, and parking is also available in the Overture Center Garage and State Street Campus Garage. | Picnic Point Babywearing Hike Sunday, October 8th at 9:30 am Picnic Point Madison (Directions) Join Brooke as she leads a hike through Picnic Point. Meet at the parking lot entrance at 9:30 am, and we’ll walk out to to the lake, then through the “rougher” trails (optional). Hiking out at Picnic Point is free, as is parking on the weekend. October Weekday Meeting Monday, October 9th at 10:30 am Verona Public Library 500 Silent St, Verona While October 8th is technically the end of International Babywearing Week, we’ll be continuing our celebration into Monday during our monthly weekday meeting! Join us to learn about babywearing, explore our carriers, and connect with other caregivers. |
